Tipico Coffee is a coffee shop and roastery located in Buffalo, NY. Their beautifully curated interior reflects their brand values of community, craftsmanship, and fun. However, their visual identity did not feel consistent with this message and did not accurately represent their true essence. Using extensive research and brand strategy, I aimed to create a brand identity that reflects the cafe’s friendliness, quality, and commitment to fostering relationships. I took inspiration from the bright colors and organic shapes featured in the cafe to create the logo, and I chose the name Bluebird for its connotations of natural beauty and joy. The tagline draws on the shop’s aim of creating a space that supports both community and quality products. With the brand’s core values in mind, I created a full brand manual to aid in understanding the cafe’s brand essence and visual identity. Additionally, I developed mockups to highlight the application of the identity to a variety of touchpoints.
Process & Ideation
This project included an extensive research process before any visual design decisions were made. For about three weeks, I conducted market research, brand strategy and positioning, and studies for multiple different creative directions. Included below are some the of the slides from the 50 page strategy and identity deck I completed before creating the logo and brand.
